We are a non-profit, registered association committed to protecting public health through certified textile hygiene – particularly in hotels, guesthouses, daycare centres, emergency shelters, and all facilities with textile-based sleeping areas.

Why is our work so important?
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), more than 45% of people worldwide suffer from allergies. These individuals rely on allergen-free, hygienically safe sleeping environments.
However, the reality is alarming:
House dust mites and their faeces form a large part of household dust and contain allergens that can damage the immune system, leading to chronic allergies and autoimmune diseases that are often incurable.
Asthma attacks or allergic shocks caused by allergen exposure can be life-threatening.
Freshly laundered bedding is no guarantee of safety!
Mites, fungal spores, bacteria, and viruses accumulate inside mattresses and pillows – sometimes for years without proper cleaning or disinfection.
Inadequate hygiene is the path from infection to epidemic and ultimately to pandemic!
Every guest has paid the price for an infection-free overnight stay, relying on the highest standards of hygiene in your establishment. Infections from the remains of previous occupants, in the form of viruses, bacteria, fungal spores, but also mites, as well as allergens from mite feces, can damage our immune systems to the point where autoimmune diseases and allergies can occur that never heal. Legal basis of THMS's activities in the field of infection protection
Textile Hygiene Service e. V. operates within the framework and in accordance with Section 1 (1) and Section 36 (1) of the German Infection Protection Act (IfSG ¹. Our work serves the purpose of preventive health protection through the microbiological testing and treatment of textiles in accommodation establishments. The regularly conducted tests – including rapid analyses, particle screening, standardised sampling (30-second test), and covert hygiene inspections – are carried out on a technically sound basis using recognised standards, such as EN 14065 (RABC concept². Treatment with Parasitol®, a disinfectant registered with the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA),³ is a state-of-the-art approach that demonstrably eliminates pathogenic microorganisms. As a non-profit organisation, we carry out these activities not on a sovereign basis, but on a civil society basis.
Official approval is not required under current law, as we do not carry out sovereign measures, do not claim any powers under administrative enforcement law, and do not violate the rights of third parties.
Our mission is to draw attention to hygiene deficiencies in the public interest and to contribute to minimising the risk of infection through qualified certification – especially in areas where the government does not provide active controls. Section 1 of the German Infection Protection Act (IfSG):
